Professor Stephen Locarnini (PhD) – Chairman - Medical and Scientific Advisory Board

Professor Locarnini is Divisional Head, Research and Molecular Development at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) and Director, World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Virus Reference and Research at VIDRL. He is a highly respected international Hepatitis B researcher and clinician with expertise in the area of drug resistance. He is a member of International Scientific Advisory Boards of several leading pharmaceutical companies and is currently Chairman of ACT-HBV™ (Advancing the Clinical Treatment of Hepatitis B Virus).

He participated in the development of consensus guidelines for the diagnosis, management and prevention of viral hepatitis type B for the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).

He has 190 publications in international refereed journals with numerous invited editorials and book chapters on hepatitis viruses and is an inventor of 11 patent and patent applications.
